IATSE 478 Sisters, Brothers, Partners and Friends-

As a result of the 2016 Louisiana legislative session, caps and restrictions were placed on our film incentives program, immediately reducing the number of productions in the state. However, Louisiana’s incentive program is still competitive and opportunity still exists throughout the state for film production. We need your help in successfully spreading this message.

This industry affects filmmakers, crew and Louisiana small businesses greatly impacted by local spending produced by increased film production. In order to relay this message to our representatives in the Louisiana Legislature (including the House Ways & Means Committee) before legislative review begins on May 7th, we need your help.

HOW CAN YOU ENSURE THAT OUR VOICES ARE HEARD? We’ve listed three items below in order of importance:

      1. Written TestimoniesMOST IMPORTANT – Due May 5th in order to submit to the Louisiana House of Representative Ways and Means Committee (May 7th due date), your written testimony will help reinforce the message that the film industry spends millions of dollars with Louisiana businesses, creates high paying Louisiana jobs, keeps Louisiana students in state after graduation and attracts new Louisiana residents. Please submit your testimony in the following link: https://www.votervoice.net/LFEA/campaigns/46097/respond.

      1. Business Survey - Is your business touched by the film industry in any way? Please complete the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZLMXQY7.

      1. Individual Survey - Do you work in any aspect of the film industry? If you did not complete this survey in November or December of 2015, please do so here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Z2DGV2L.

We hope that you’ll join us in this urgent movement to showcase what this industry truly brings to Louisiana. With legislation approaching, we must work quickly to save not only our businesses, but the jobs of our members and our industry as a whole.

      In Solidarity,

      IATSE Local 478
